Cardtek, being the solution provider for Indian first open loop transit project, is pleased to announce a successful certification for qSparc Contactless L2 kernel for RuPay standards.
RuPay is an Indian domestic card scheme conceived and launched by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). It was created to fulfil the Reserve Bank of India's desire to have a domestic, open loop, and multilateral system of payments in India. RuPay facilitates electronic payment at all Indian banks and financial institutions.
This is the 9th. contactless certification of Cardtek in 2016. In the previous certifications, Cardtek has carried out MasterCard PayPass, Visa payWave, AMEX ExpressPay and Discover D-PAS certifications for various terminal vendors.
Cardtek has been the first vendor receiving qSparc Contactless L2 certification in the world.
L2 Kernel certification is generally complicated and time consuming process due to a lot of risks and unknown items. Cardtek, experiencing such a challenging process, has the confidence to deliver the solution smoothly, cost-effectively and timely to any terminal vendor. Cardtek may facilitate terminal vendors or transit solution providers to adapt their payment terminals with Indian standards which helps them to enter into the one of the world's most promising payment market.
Although facing challenges like official test tools not being available and uncomplete specs, Cardtek team achieved the certification thanks to collaborative work done with NPCI and FIME.

The L2 kernel was the final step of the open loop transit tender Cardtek was awarded in 2014. Cardtek has provided Open Loop Transit, Prepaid Card Management and Instant Card Issuance solution in the scope of the project other than L2 Kernel.
